Nice excursions within an hour's drive

GORGES DU VERDON - (45 min). Europe's highest canyon offers opportunities to walk, drive, or paddle up the river. Rental boats for 4-6 people are available on-site for 20-40 Euros per hour. It's a fantastic experience. Feel free to combine it with a swimming day in St. Croix Lake, which has good, accessible beatches. Just 10 minutes away is the picturesque little mountain village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, known for its Crusader history and small cafes. It's perfect for an afternoon ice cream.

Marknaden i Lorgues - (25 min). One of the region's largest and most visited markets, locally produced, food, clothes etc. Every Tuesday all year round at 07.30-12.30.

FREJUS - (50 min). Around the city of Frejus there are nice beaches and good swimming opportunities in the Mediterranean Sea. Take the opportunity to visit the small but well-known resorts of St Maxim and St Tropez along the fine coastal road. Warning for heavy traffic in July/August.

QUINSON - (40 min). A great place to hike along a gorge and up to the top of the mountain. Well laid out hiking trails of various lengths and mixed levels of difficulty.

ABBAYE DU THORONET - (15 min).
Well-preserved monastery from the 12th century. Also within 15 minutes walk is the modern monastery church of Monastére Notre Dame du Torrent and the pleasant lunch/wine tasting at Domaine Saint Louis La Manuelle.

COTIGNAC - (15 min). A picturesque neighboring village with a nice restaurant square, lots of arts and crafts and exciting rock caves.

TOURTOUR - (25 min). Called the "village in the sky" due to its fantastic location overlooking the whole of southern Provence. Nice square with cafes and restaurants and a 11th century church.

SILLANS-LA-CASCADE - (20 min). A fifteen-minute walk from the village SLC is the beautiful 35-meter-high waterfall embedded in nature. Swimming is prohibited at the falls but natural pools are found downstream along the west side of the river.
